Mark 12-16

“And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God?” Mark 12:24

Dear God, I am amazed at how You equate knowing the power of God with knowing the scriptures. I find myself in the same situation as I always do and that is my time in Thy word is set aside for other things. Lord, You have done so much for me over the last week and a half. When my car needed repair, not only was it repaired but You provided the knowledge for me to repair it myself and at a cost of only $10.00. Lord, You are so good to me regardless of my unfaithfulness. Help me to break this cycle of inconsistency and to follow Thee with my whole heart.

“And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.” Mark 13:21-23

Dear God, Your disciples were able to know the truth only because of Thy word. Had it not been for Thy warning, they too could have been deceived by a false Christ. Lord, if they could have been deceived, how much more can I be deceived if I am not in Thy word? The time has been long past that I must lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets me and dedicate myself to the daily study of Thy word.

Mark 8-11

“And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.” Mark 18:15

Dear God, I pray that You would help me to stay in Thy word that I might know Thy thoughts. Help me not to be caught up in the doctrines and traditions of man that add affliction rather than mercy to Thy people.

“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.” Mark 9:23-25

Dear God, I pray that You would help my unbelief too. I desire a closer walk with Thee and for my faith to be strengthened that I may please You and have a closer walk with Thee. Lord, thank you for the messages that were preached yesterday and for what they did in my heart. Help me to be pleasing in Your sight and to live my life in faith.

Mark 4-7

“And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” Mark 4:18-19

Lord, I take this as a solemn warning to what success could very easily do to me if I am not rooted in Thy word and filled with Thy Spirit. Dear God, as Solomon said in proverbs 30:8 ‘Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:’ that I may stay near Thee whether in the midst of riches or poverty.

“And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.” Mark 5:14-15

Lord, Thank you for the work that you can do in the vilest of persons. In truth, there is not a person alive that has ever been better off than Legion was. Lord, thank you for the work you did in my life and the lives of my family. I pray that I would not be as the people who kept the herd of swine in that when they saw the marvelous work You had done to Legion, they were afraid and asked You to leave their coasts. Help me always to draw near unto Thee and love Thee with all my heart.

“While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.” Mark 5:35-36

Lord, I pray that through this difficult, financial time in our lives, You would help us only to believe. Lord, the situation with the ruler’s daughter was much more grave than the one that I am facing now but nonetheless, the same faith that caused his daughter to be raised from the dead is the same faith that will see me through this time. Help me always to love and draw near unto Thee and forgive me when I fail You because I most certainly will. Thank you that all my sins have been cast behind Thy back and in the depths of the deepest ocean.

“He answered and said unto them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Mark 7:6-7

Lord, I pray that You would help me to ever draw nearer to Thy word so that I would not cast aside Your doctrines for my own traditions. The truth of this passage is something that I have personal done and seen done by many Christians. Help me to know Thee and Thy word that the truth of the gospel would be preached in such a manner that men would be drawn unto Thee.

Matthew 28-Mark 3

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20

Dear God, one cannot pass over this scripture and not take something from it. I remember the first time I read the great commission when I was newly saved and I remember the impact that it had on me. I realized I had a responsibility to reach people with the gospel. Lord, I pray that You would help me be more of a soul winner. Thank you for the two souls that have been saved recently that You gave me the opportunity to share Thy word with.

Matthew 24-27

“Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.” Matthew 26:33-34

Dear God, so many times I have said that I would follow You and I have failed. Lord, there are so many temptations in this world that I desire to abstain from. Lord, I know there may come a day when I am tempted to turn away and to do things that are unthinkable, but Lord I pray that Your promise in I Corinthians 10:13 would stand true in my life and that through Your power, I would stand and follow Thee.

Matthew 20-23

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.” Matthew 22:29

Lord, help me to know Thy word that I may also know Thy power. I desire to know they mind and heart and not to err through lack of knowledge.

Matthew 16-19

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:17-19

Dear Jesus, thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead a soul to Christ this week. I ought to praise Thee in everything that happens in my life but so often I am looking at other things. Lord, thank You for Thy salvation and that the gates of hell shall never prevail against the church. Help me to tell others and to have a passion burning within me to see the lost come to Thee.

“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:20-21

Dear God, this passage shows the how the faith of every one of Thy children is so small. Lord, my faith in Thee and in Thy promises is often much less than it ought simply because I do not stay rooted in Thy word. Truth cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Lord, the same word that gives faith for salvation, is the same word that gives faith to live for Thee daily. Help me to stay by Thy side and to stay in Thy word.

Matthew 12-15

“But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Matthew 13:8-9

Lord, I pray that my heart would be good ground. That I would accept Thy word with all joy and would teach sinners of Thee. Help not my heart to be stony or to be caught up with the things of the world. Help me to love Thee only.

Matthew 8-11

“And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.” Matthew 8:8-13

Lord, help me to have faith as this centurion did. The faith of my heart is so weak and feeble that it is amazing that You would do anything in my life at all. But Lord, I thank You for the work that has already been done in my life. Help me to serve Thee with all that I am.

Matthew 4-7

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

Dear God, the desire of my heart is to be someone who hungers and thirsts after righteousness but I often find myself following after my own sinful desires. Help me to know Thee through Thy word that it may give me the desires of my heart. Help me to delight myself in Thee daily that my heart would desire Thee above all.

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:17-18

Lord, thank You for fulfilling the law. Thank You for Your sinless life. Thank You for the free gift of salvation for all mankind. Help us to serve you with all our hearts for Thy glorious sacrifice.

Malachi 4-Matthew 3

“But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:20-21

Lord, thank You for the glorious gift of Thy Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for the salvation of my soul and the sanctification of my life. Help me always to follow after Thee and to know Thy word.

Zechariah 14-Malachi 3

“But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.” Zechariah 14:7-9

Lord, thank you that one day You shall rule here on the earth. Thank You for the truth of Thy word and Thy plan for Thy people, Israel and for all nations of the earth. Thank You that I may be counted among Thy children and help me always to dwell upon Thy goodness and mercy.

“Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible. And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.” Malachi 1:7-8

Lord, how often have I given Thee which is less than pleasing? How often have the sacrifices of my life been contemptible? Lord, I pray that You would forgive the trespass of Thy servant and help me to fill my heart with Thy word that I might not sin against Thee. My desire it to serve Thee but my flesh is continually against me. Help me to die to myself and let the Spirit have sway in my heart.

Zechariah 10-13

“And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.” Zechariah 13:9

Lord, refine me continually I pray. In light of all that has gone on in recent days, I am reminded how weak and finite I truly am. At any moment the attack of Satan can come and those who are caught unaware, not having prepared themselves through the word of God, will surely fall by the wayside. Help me to draw nearer to Thee and forgive me for my sin.

Zechariah 6-9

“For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not: So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.” Zechariah 8:14-15

Lord, thank You for not keeping Your anger forever. Lord, thank You that any chastisement that comes our way is for our good and because of Thy love. I praise You for Thy loving kindness and pray that You would help me this day to remember it that I might not sin against Thee.

Zechariah 2-5

“And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?” Zechariah 3:1-2

Lord, my hope is that one day before I reach Heaven, that I will be able to understand many things out of Thy word but as I am today, I do not. I do not fully understand the significance of everything Thy prophets foretold concerning Thy people Israel. But I do know that as you rebuked Satan for Thy people, You will also rebuke him for our sakes. Thank you Lord for Thy loving favor and kindness.
