Bible Reading: 2090417

Mark 4-7

“And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” Mark 4:18-19

Lord, I take this as a solemn warning to what success could very easily do to me if I am not rooted in Thy word and filled with Thy Spirit. Dear God, as Solomon said in proverbs 30:8 ‘Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:’ that I may stay near Thee whether in the midst of riches or poverty.

“And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.” Mark 5:14-15

Lord, Thank you for the work that you can do in the vilest of persons. In truth, there is not a person alive that has ever been better off than Legion was. Lord, thank you for the work you did in my life and the lives of my family. I pray that I would not be as the people who kept the herd of swine in that when they saw the marvelous work You had done to Legion, they were afraid and asked You to leave their coasts. Help me always to draw near unto Thee and love Thee with all my heart.

“While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.” Mark 5:35-36

Lord, I pray that through this difficult, financial time in our lives, You would help us only to believe. Lord, the situation with the ruler’s daughter was much more grave than the one that I am facing now but nonetheless, the same faith that caused his daughter to be raised from the dead is the same faith that will see me through this time. Help me always to love and draw near unto Thee and forgive me when I fail You because I most certainly will. Thank you that all my sins have been cast behind Thy back and in the depths of the deepest ocean.

“He answered and said unto them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Mark 7:6-7

Lord, I pray that You would help me to ever draw nearer to Thy word so that I would not cast aside Your doctrines for my own traditions. The truth of this passage is something that I have personal done and seen done by many Christians. Help me to know Thee and Thy word that the truth of the gospel would be preached in such a manner that men would be drawn unto Thee.
